Supahcute and I love having animal themed art shows and this year's we've decided to benefit a cause directly in the city that Leanna Lin's Wonderland is located in, Dogs of the Rock in Eagle Rock.

PAWS Art Show had it's opening event on Mother's Day weekend and it was tons of fun! If you missed it, check out the event and gallery photos here and/or visit the show through June 26th. Remember that 10% of the art show sales will be donated to Dogs of the Rock for the next stages of our off leash dog park.

Also, on Sat. June 4th from 4-8pm, we are having a Book Signing + Pop-Up with 2 artists from the PAWS Art Show, Joey Chou and Chin Ko. They will be signing their 2 Father's Day themed books, Monster & Son and EveryDad and bringing out some other goodies! So come out, see cute animal art, get some Father's Day gifts done early, and meet these amazing illustrators! 10% of the sales will be donated to Dogs of the Rock.

Dogs of the Rock - I asked Matt Harrington, founder of Dogs of the Rock, to tell me know more about his passion for getting an off-leash dog park in Eagle Rock and here it is! :)

"The City of Los Angeles, with over 3.8 million residents, has just nine off-leash dog parks, with the last one dedicated over a decade ago. Having frequented parks in both Washington, DC and West Hollywood (ones that would ultimately become approved off-leash areas), I began advocating for the dogs of (Eagle) Rock soon after moving to the neighborhood in 2011. Dogs of the Rock was soon born out of a group of committed Eagle Rock folks who thought our little town was sorely in need of an off-leash park, one where our community could gather and our dogs could play.

Dogs of the Rock attained the support of local businesses and community organizations, collected over 2,000 signatures, and raised over $6,000 in pledges. The group partnered with The Eagle Rock Association (TERA) as their fiscal agent and secured Councilman Huizar’s support when he announced a park would be forthcoming in TERA’s State of the Town in February, 2016.  Dogs of the Rock will continue to advocate for a tenth park in our community until we get one."

Since the above, last week the LA City Council approved an off-leash Eagle Rock dog park in their budget! So now onwards to the next stages to make this happen. The dogs of Eagle Rock thanks everyone involved.
