ILLUMINATING RESILIENCE is our first art exhibit of 2025, showcasing the beauty and light that grows from hard times, and celebrating the strength and heart of our beloved Los Angeles.
The show runs March 1 - April 13, 2025 at Leanna Lin's Wonderland in Eagle Rock.
During the recent Eaton Canyon fires, Madi of "Sunset Freeway" (a pop-y mixed media and digital art brand) was forced to evacuate her home for two weeks while the fires burned less than a mile away. Once allowed back, while walking through the neighborhood rubble, Madi found destroyed garden memorabilia that once belonged to a family member who passed in 2021. Instead of discarding the mirrored shards she found, Madi recovered them and repurposed these pieces for use in ten new works, now featured in our exciting new "Illuminating Resilience" art show.
Also featured in the show are thirteen beautiful stained glass pieces from Kimberly Rountree of Bone Storm Glassworks. These vibrant pieces— featuring flowers, rainbows, and celestial bodies— perfectly compliment the art from Sunset Freeway and stand out incredibly as the sunlight glitters across them. The beautiful imagery and precise lines are a result of the hours of hard work put into these brilliant pieces. These glass works are just another striking reminder that in the midst of rain, all it takes is a little bit of light for things to glitter and shine.
